A Heritage of Business, Investment and Development

Barbara (Aylesbury) Limited is a long-established family business with roots dating back to 1946.

Originally founded in Aylesbury as a millinery business by Irene Dennis, the company has evolved over generations into a diverse property investment and development business with a strong entrepreneurial heritage.

Over the years, Barbara (Aylesbury) Limited has successfully operated across a range of sectors including retail, hospitality, childcare, healthcare, leisure and property. From operating greeting card stores across the South of England, to restaurants, care homes, day nurseries and luxury yacht charters, the company has continually adapted to changing markets and opportunities.

A Modern Approach to Property Development

In recent years, the business has focused primarily on residential property investment and development, delivering high-quality residential schemes and long-term rental properties across the South East. Projects have included the redevelopment of brownfield and underutilised sites, build-to-rent developments, mixed-use investments and residential refurbishments.

Today, Barbara (Aylesbury) Limited combines decades of business experience with a modern approach to property development and investment. The company continues to expand its portfolio with a focus on creating sustainable, well-designed residential communities while maintaining the long-term values of a family-owned business.

Simon Dennis

Director Simon Dennis leads Barbara (Aylesbury( Limited and brings over two decades of business and property experience.

Originally working in the cinema industry, Simon transitioned into the family business in 2008, gaining hands-on experience across a range of sectors including hospitality, care, and education. Over time, the focus shifted toward property – where a clear opportunity for long-term, sustainable growth became evident.

Since then, Simon has developed and managed multiple residential projects, building a growing portfolio of rental properties across Buckinghamshire.

His approach is straightforward and commercially driven – focused on identifying sound opportunities, navigating complex processes such as planning and funding, and delivering practical, well-executed developments.

As a hands-on owner, Simon remains directly involved in the business and accessible to tenants where needed.
